CFS WALL R-VALUE CALCULATOR

THE TRUE R-VALUE OF A STEEL STUD WALL, NOT THE BATT RATING

The CFS Wall R-Value Calculator finds the effective R-value and U-factor of cold-formed steel stud walls by the AISI S250-21 method.

CFS Wall R-Value Calculator v1.0

Effective R-value and U-factor of cold-formed steel stud walls by the AISI S250-21 thermal transmittance method.

Most examples use 350S162-33 studs at 16" o.c. Change any value below to test your own wall.

What moves the number

Each row changes one input from your current wall and shows the change in effective R-value.

AISI S250 calculation detail

Effective cavity R is the total effective R-value minus every uninterrupted layer, so it shows how much of the batt's rating survives the steel studs. Results follow AISI S250-21 w/S1-22 for standard C-shapes at 6, 12, 16 or 24 in. o.c. and 33–68 mil steel.
