Custom Steel-Framed Waterfront Homes Built for Coastal Durability

This video follows the construction of a custom luxury waterfront residence on the Australia’s Gold Coast, showcasing how cold-formed steel framing is redefining premium residential construction in coastal environments. Fabricated by Elite Steel Framing Pty Ltd using TrueCore® steel by BlueScope, the project was manufactured using Scotpanel 7090, Scotpanel 7070, and Scottruss 6050 roll forming machines.

Located directly beside canals, the project highlights the advantages of cold-formed steel for demanding waterfront conditions where long-term durability and dimensional stability are essential. Moisture, humidity, and salt-laden air create demanding conditions for any building material, making corrosion protection a critical design consideration. The galvanized steel used in modern cold-formed steel framing provides multiple layers of protection, including a durable zinc barrier, sacrificial cathodic protection, and a self-healing patina that helps extend the service life of structural members. Unlike materials that can absorb moisture, swell, warp, or deteriorate over time, galvanized steel maintains its dimensional stability, helping waterfront homes preserve their structural integrity and construction precision for decades.

Using advanced roll forming technology, precision-manufactured wall panels and roof trusses arrived on site ready for installation, helping streamline construction, reduce material waste, and maintain exceptional quality control. The completed home demonstrates how off-site manufactured steel framing can deliver the accuracy, strength, and efficiency required for high-end luxury homes while providing lasting performance in challenging coastal environments.
