Mahsa is eating strawberries, but we’re pretty sure steel is still on her mind! A huge part of generating customer value is recruiting the best and the brightest in the industry, and we are thrilled that Mahsa Mahdavian is joining our team.  Welcome aboard Mahsa!

A graduate of University of North Texas (UNT) with degrees in construction engineering and construction management, Mahsa is a well-known industry name, having served as a Chair of marketing and editorial committees at Steel Deck Institute (SDI), while also with very active involvements with American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAoC), and a wealth of experience in all-things cold-formed steel.  She explained her early involvement with light-gauge steel as follows:

“My introduction into the CFS world started from grad school when I studied CFS shear walls with corrugated steel deck sheathing. I’ve been exposed to CFS framing members through my grad studies and my decade long career in steel deck.”

Mahsa’s academic work at the University of North Texas focused on investigation of seismic lateral force resisting systems, entailing both physical testing and finite element modeling, leading to the development of innovative optimized shear walls for cold-formed steel construction.  Details of her research can be found in her thesis titled “Innovative Cold-Formed Steel Shear Walls with Corrugated Steel Sheathing.”  Mahsa professional career led her to Nucor’s Vulcraft/Verco Division where she worked on new product and market development.  More recently, she was a part of ASC Steel Deck.  Known for her hard work and leadership qualities, she leads or support a number of impactful cold-formed steel industry initiatives.  Explaining why she is joining Scottsdale, Mahsa mentioned:

“I’m excited to join the Scottsdale family and gain a new perspective within the steel world. I look forward to the challenges and all the learning opportunities ahead. Scottsdale embodies my core philosophies: Let the new generation lead, Build with steel, and Make engineering easy. Cheers to making a difference together!”

“It is no secret that we hire the best technical talent we can find across the globe for our engineering, customer support, and product development roles,” noted J.R. Mujagic, Scottsdale’s Chief Revenue Officer.  He added: “What probably makes us specific in our space is that throughout our 75-year history we’ve also emphasized the importance of deep technical knowledge of the product and the industry in our sales and marketing leadership.  Not only does that facilitate an effective delivery of value proposition to the customer, but even more importantly, it helps us understand customer needs better than anyone.  Mahsa fits that logic perfectly, and we are thrilled to have her on our team.”

Mahsa joins us as Technical Marketing Manager and will work as a part of Scottsdale’s global revenue group.  Please join us in congratulating her on her new career challenge!
