The Element Hotel in Richmond, demonstrates how integrated construction solutions can streamline large-scale hospitality projects. The eight-story, 110,000 sq. ft. hotel was fabricated using KFS Framemaker 1622 and KFS Framemaker 1420 roll forming machines to produce cold-formed steel load-bearing walls and floor joist systems. The project progressed from engineering to production with an eight-month fabrication schedule and a 12-person framing crew. The use of DragonBoard Structural Subfloor Panels within a UL-certified 2-hour fire-rated floor/ceiling assembly, eliminating the need for a concrete topping slab while maintaining fire performance and code compliance. Valued at approximately $1.25 million for the steel framing package ($11.34 per sq. ft.), the project highlights how advanced roll forming technology can deliver efficient multi-story construction.
