At METALCON, Scottsdale Construction Systems showcased a fully steel-framed and erected barndominium live on the exhibit show floor, demonstrating how roll forming technology, industry collaboration, and cold-formed steel are transforming modern construction.
During a live interview with MetalCoffeeShop, Scottsdale President, Derek McSpadden, shared the company’s mission of empowering builders, designers, and communities through innovative steel framing solutions. He explained how Scottsdale’s integrated software and roll forming technology create a seamless design-to-manufacturing process, effectively enabling teams to “print buildings” with precision and efficiency.
Beginning as an architect’s vision, the project evolved through an international collaborative effort involving detailing in Argentina, fabrication in the U.S., and final assembly by Scottsdale’s own sales and marketing team on the exhibit show floor. The project demonstrated the precision, reliability, and scalability of Scottsdale’s roll forming technology, proving how teams across different locations can work together within one connected steel framing ecosystem towards a mutual goal.
Beyond the state-of-the-art roll forming technology, Derek emphasized a larger mission: construction is the backbone of progress, and Scottsdale’s role is to empower the people building the future. The project, which will ultimately be donated to support military initiatives, highlights not only engineering capabilities but also the meaningful impact construction can have on our communities.
